He's walking more and more

Nicky's been practicing his walking everyday. It's so much fun to watch him exploring how he can move his body. I added another video last night of him, and although he really looks like he's intoxicated he is just still wobbly and was sleepy. Promise!

I also added a few June photos, including one of Nicky and I. Even though the one of me is awful there are so few photos of the two of us that I just had to add it.

We're heading to Alabama soon to visit with Aunt Maryellen and Uncle Scot. They have a new puppy named Molly who is just adorable. Nicky will have lots of fun playing with her!

Also, just to share something I found facinating: Watch this quick video on RSS in Plain English and you'll see what I mean when I say RSS feeds will change your life! After seeing that I immediately went out and set up a Google Reader account. Now I get all my blog updates from one spot and can actually keep up with all the interesting blogs I follow! It's amazing!

He's WALKING!

It's now official! Nicky can WALK! Tonight I caught his first independent steps.

Yesterday he'd taken a few steps and figured out how to stand by himself without holding onto anything. He was very excited about being able to stand up on his own and would toss up his hands and shriek every time. I was trying to capture some video of him doing it, but it was hard since as soon as he saw the camera all he wanted to do was get the camera.

But tonight after his bath we were trying again to capture the standing thing and we not only got it, we caught him walking! We were so excited! I'm uploading the video right now!

Here it is.

15 month ped appt

We had our 15th month pediatric appointment yesterday. Nicky passed everything with flying colors. His measurements are:
Height: 31 inches tall
Weight: 24 pounds and 8 ounces
Head: 47cm

Everything looked great and the doctor said he's perfect. She did say to call her in a month or two if he isn't showing any progress in walking independently, but she's not worried about it. She agrees he's probably able to walk but just not willing yet.

Today we were planning on having dinner early and going to the park afterwards, but instead we filled up his pool and had a before dinner splash-fest and then I gave him a bubble bath in his pool after dinner too. It was cold of course, but he didn't seem to mind much. We'll try to do the park tomorrow after father's day dinner.

Now I'm off to work on Tom's father's day gift. I'll share it here when I'm done!

The Firshy Game

Ok, it's too cute. Nicky started playing "fishy" with Nana. He puts his hands together and moves them back and forth like a fishy. Now when Nana does it she says "fishy" and so he's started saying 'ish' only with a lisp, which is understandable since he's only got two teeth. I have a little of the hand sign on one of the new videos I put up last night. His mouth was full though so I don't think you'll hear him saying fish, just doing the hand sign. He also signs Milk in the video too.

Yesterday we put Nicky in his wading pool for the first time. He was only in there for about 5 minutes total since I didn't want him to get too cold, but he had a ball! He was so upset when it was over. We'll have to do that more often now. A little movie of his first swim is up too.

He's really getting into talking!

Ok, Nicky's newest thing is holding his hand flat up against his head and saying "HO?" He started by imitating the teller at the bank when she picked up the phone. Tom calls me at work now about once a day so that I can talk to Nicky. Well, actually so he can talk to me. Mostly it's "Eh!" but he's holding the phone himself and talking! Of course there is button pushing involved as well.

He also is consistently waving bye and saying "die!" LOL! This started at Sonny's with two older women who were fawning over him (that happens a lot!) and when Daddy said to say bye-bye he actually did! "Die-Die!" AND he's really waving, not just opening and closing his hand too. Progress all over the place!

So now he can say:

Ighth = Light
Guh = Dog
Die = Bye
Ho = Hello
And then the normal, Mama, Dada, Nana, Hi and Yay that have been in his repertoire for a while now.

Another thing that started this week. He's picked up on two of the sign-language signs. He started signing "more" on Tuesday. I think he really knows what it means! I've caught just a bit on camera so I'll have to put that up this weekend. He also can sign "milk." It's so cute. He uses both hands (the sign is your right hand squeezing like you're milking a cow).

Two other things I almost forgot. He did say "mease" when Nana said to "say please" one time. It was too cute. But he hasn't done it again yet. And he might sometimes be saying "more" when he's signing it. Sounded like "mo" to me. We'll see if he keeps it up.

My baby's starting to talk!

Updates: Still no move on the walking front. Surely it will happen soon. AND still no more teeth! I swear, how much closer can it get before coming in? It's been WEEKS now! I check every night while brushing his teeth for more, but they're just really slow I guess.

Oh one more thing, and Donna and I took a scrap-booking class on Monday. Lot's of neat ideas! I've come up with a whole list of themes from looking at his photos and now I've just got to print them out and we can scrap them. We did a Thanksgiving layout on Tuesday and it's very cute.

First real words

Oh, I know he's been saying Mama, Dada and Nana for a while now, but this is a REAL word! AND he really knows what it means. When you turn on the light or he sees a light he points to it and says "ighth." Kind of like "light" without the "l" and with a "th" sound at the end. He's probably been doing this for quite a while, but we just figured it out.

We also thing he's saying "Guh" for Dog. It's like he doesn't say the first sound "duh" But only says the last sound "guh." He's been doing it repeatedly, especially at Benjamin, so we think it's Dog.

We have words! Oh, and he definitely knows "Dada" means Daddy, but not sure if he really knows that I'm the "mama" he keeps saying. It won't be long now though. Last night I was working on "Book." He was really close to getting that too. He's learning stuff so fast! It's so fun!

The top teeth still haven't popped through yet. His top left is really close though. Hopefully it'll come through soon for him.

I think that's about it for the Nicky updates. Donna and I are going to a scrapbooking class tonight, so maybe I'll actually DO something with the 2GB of photos I have on my hard drive. Not sure what I'll do with the 20GB of movies though! And I'm not even exaggerating here. I actually checked this last night. Oy! My computer is filling up too fast!
